How Hallo works
From landing page to live conversation in under a minute — here's exactly what happens along the way.
1. Choose text or video
Pick the kind of conversation you're in the mood for. Text is calm and low-pressure; video is face-to-face. You can switch anytime.
2. Confirm you're an adult and accept the rules
Hallo is strictly 18+. You confirm your date of birth and agree to the community guidelines — the same rules every other person here has accepted.
3. Optionally set interests and languages
Choose up to five interests and the languages you speak or practise. The matcher prefers people you share something with, and relaxes gradually so you never wait forever.
4. Match and talk
You're paired with exactly one person in a private room. Typing indicators, delivery states and connection status keep the conversation smooth.
5. Next, End, Report, Block — always available
Move to a new person with Next, leave with End, and use Report or Block if anything feels wrong. Reports end the conversation instantly and are reviewed by our safety systems and team.
Behind the scenes
- Anonymous sessions: no account, just a temporary identity that expires within 24 hours.
- No conversation recording — messages are transient, video is never stored.
- Rate limits and bot protection keep spam out of the queue.
- Blocked and reported pairs are never matched again.
